The Perfect Noggin is an anatomically-correct, convex resting surface that promotes head rounding far better than any product of its kind. Unlike traditional flat mattresses, which promote head flattening, The PerfectNoggin's unique head recess provides a concave surface that allows the head to remain round and symmetrical through early infancy.

Repositioning the infant or their head in The Perfect Noggin is never required. In fact, The Perfect Noggin was designed so parents could avoid tedious and ineffective repositioning activities. Your infant's head is free to move side to side within the recessed area and this will not reduce the effectiveness of The Perfect Noggin.

The Perfect Noggin comes with a special measuring tape that is coded to each foam layer. Simply measure your baby's head as shown in the instructions, then remove the layers of foam that are smaller that the one shown on the tape measure. Be sure to leave all of the larger layers nested on the plastic base. Your baby's head should be snug (not tight) in the head recess so it may be necessary to adjust the layer size up or down, depending on your baby's head shape. In general, infant's with wider heads (brachycephalic) will fit into a larger size than measured, while those with thin, long heads will need a size smaller than what was measured. If your child tends to move excessively, but is not rolling back to belly, you can try using a swaddle or other sleep sack to maintain their position on The Perfect Noggin. If you child scoots down off The Perfect Noggin, a "speed bump" can be fashioned to reduce this tendency. A speed bump is created by rolling a large face towel like a cigar, and placing it under the cotton cover at the level of your baby's bottom. The size of the roll can be increased as needed.

As much as possible. The more time your baby spends in The Perfect Noggin, the faster and better the result. Remember, time spent out of The Perfect Noggin, especially on hard, flat surfaces, can offset the progress made while on The Perfect Noggin.
